Proceed.
-
Where did everyone go?
-
Just waiting for either Depheir or Sig to post, then it is on to Round 2. After Sig's action, Bran will take his, then Depheir. From there, on to round #3! :)
-
Sig gave me the go-ahead and no word from Depheir, so I'm advancing the plot.
-
That's 2 out of 3! We're going down!
@Sembas: Good luck taking both of them on! :D
-
2/4... You're forgetting about Faile. I'm pretty sure that she has some tricks up her wing.
-
So, I'm wondering how much I can act since the song is beginning to wear off. Can we do any actions like prep a spell? Or are we just dancing again? Are we aware of the others being incapacitated yet?
-
Basically, your dancing starts to slow, and you are somewhat aware of Depheir being knocked out. It may manifest as something different to you (i.e., you see a tree fall over across the battlefield, etc.) As you are still affected by the spell, you cannot prep a spell.
-
O_O Kith... That was one of the most beautifully worded posts ever. I absolutely love the word choice and your description was both well-detailed and eloquent... and now I'm banishing the English Teacher in me back to the depths from whence she emerged.
-
Just a super heads up, I'll be having my exams on the 2 Nov to 15 Nov. While I'll probably still be posting, I'm just gonna say I might not post as much during that period.
This will be especially true from 15-21 Nov, where I celebrate the end with my friends and go off for Prom. 21'st is the 'hangover' and rest period.
Yea, just an FYI. :D
-
Gosh Faidth :-[ It just kind of poured out. I think that is one of the purest images of Sembas and Faile that I could ever create. Thank you for the kind words!
Good luck on your exams John! And good luck on your recovery afterwards, haha.
-
Sorry all. I was going to post this morning during my work prep, but unfortunately I was distracted by other issues. I'll try and get my post up today.
-
Cam will be throwing up a post later, after which, we'll deal with Bran's action, then on to Kith and Faile. This will probably be the last round of combat because I would really like to get to the next exposition (and wake up all those lazy sleepyheads who are napping right now.)
-
Okay, Sembas will get an attempt to avoid Sig's attack, after which we will head into the last round of combat. Each character will get one more action, so try to make it a good one!
-
Or a counter 8)
Angry birds make for angry falconers make for angry birds. It's a vicious cycle...
-
Can we roll for initiative? :P
Who's next to act? Sig or Sembas?
-
Sig will go next. This will be his final attack. This will be followed by Bran, then you and Faile.
-
@ Sembas: Looks like Sig's rolled a natural 20 :P
Wake me up when November ends, so that I can totally show off Fenwick's awesome new spell! :D (Character sheet got an update fyi :))
-
Bran won't be very helpful. I think he's afraid of Faile right now. :-P
-
My post is up. Simple attack, but hopefully devastating.
-
Holy crap Faidth, that was hilarious!
You captured Faile perfectly, having her only tap rather than tear. I wasn't going to have her harm Bran if I could help it. Bravo!
-
Thanks. :)
I thought it suited her: giving him a stern bird lecture then making him pay for his insolence via a lesson in humility. I don't think that poor boy will ever look at a bag the same way again!
-
Since my last post was my final attack, I figured I'd have Sig end this with some class. Of course, whether or not it actually goes that route is up to Sembas. 8)
-
Okay, I'll be rather indisposed tomorrow. Likely on Sunday, I will be posting a big plot/character development exposition, during which, all unconscious characters will awaken and rejoin the story.
-
*pokes head out from the door*
I can post soon? Oh thank the Divine!!! I was near tempted to post a dream simply to get someTHING going.
-
It's not MY fault you got knocked unconscious. :P Get some offensive spells, n00b!
-
Well theoretically, with you being the battle master and being able to show the final outcome of actions... and controlling Bran... Plus the fact that I was dancing means that I can't use any spells anyway :P
Ahha! Counter!
-
If you would have had Sembas attack Sig instead of you, there wouldn't have been any dancing. ;)
-
Feel free to interact with your respective NPCs. The next big plot exposition is en route.
-
However, he can no longer see his own, exposed flesh, and for that he should be grateful. Despite the pain that still resides in his body, he knows that if it were not for Hestia’s interventions, he likely would have been incapacitated much longer.
As he sits up, he realizes that Jonas is seated in a high-backed chair beside him. The Butcher regards him quietly, but there is a certain expression of relief upon his face in knowing that Faran will be just fine.
Just a slight question here: Faran's had his eyelids cut off, and the skin's probably healed. Thing is, I can't imagine how he wouldn't be able to see his own exposed flesh BUT still be able to see Jonas sitting on a high-backed chair. I think I'm misinterpreting here, but I can't resolve it. I won't be posting on it since Fenwick is somewhere else (I presume), but it's just something that bugs me.
-
Not really sure how you misinterpreted that, as the meaning is self-evident. He can't see his own, exposed flesh because the skin has grown back, hence the reference to Hestia patching it up. If the skin had not been replaced, I would have made some reference to it still being exposed. Translation: He can no longer see any exposed flesh because it has all healed.
-
Oh pfft, my bad. I read 'His skin is still in the process of reforming, a task which may take yet another week or so' and then 'however, he couldn't... ...exposed flesh' and I was like what? Ok then he's blind. Then that didn't work out. I just thought that if it was still reforming there would be at least a few patches here and there.
Thanks for that!
-
My reply has finally come in the break of the exams! Just one more week and a day left to go!
Faidth, mind if I ask what's the plan for the story? Do we have time to move around and do things? I was planning to get Fenwick to interact with Faran, but we could do that any time as the plot moves, so don't worry if Fenwick's barred from visiting to get the plot moving or something like that.
-
I'd REALLY like to get the plot moving, but if you'd like to have an in-character discussion with Faran, I am totally okay with that. In fact, I'll make some adaptations:
1.) Sembas: When you finish your carousing scene, I am going to send you on a scouting mission with Archer.
2.) Depheir: Dethys will continue to work on a formula or some kind of incantation to mask your motivations so that you may infiltrate Darastae.
3.) Fenwick- You may have some time to converse with Faran and pursue your own interests.
4.) Faran- You will have time to converse with Fenwick and begin training with Jonas. It is highly possible that Jonas may be taking you somewhere, as well.
5.) Sig- Post, you bum. :P
-
So sorry for the delay! My exams are OVER though :D So I should be posting more often now :) Again, apologies for the wait.
-
Post up by the end of the day. Scout's honor.
-
@Kith: I'll probably throw in a post for you tomorrow. We'll gracefully end your dance with Smith and we'll get you out and about on that scouting mission with Archer.
@Depheir: Let me know what you intend to do ASAP so I can facilitate it for you.
-
@Kith: Sorry for the delay. I had an after-school program to attend to this week and I've been trying to finish my book review for a graduate class I'm taking. Excuses aside, my post for you is about half done and will be complete by tomorrow.
@Sig: POST! YOU BUM!
@All: Rethagos had informed me that he does not have time to post currently, so I will be putting up a god-mod for him as well.
-
No worries, we all get busy. Thanks for the update either way.
-
Not sure if I'm allowed to say that Cleo's left. It's just something that I thought would have happened. If it's a problem I can edit it :)
I graduate today! woohoo!
-
Nope, that's fine, Nemo.
Sorry for the delay. I've had parent-teacher conferences this week. At this point, you all have two options. You may continue to pursue your individual interests in Avalon, or I can send you with Sembas and Archer. Let me know what you'd like to do.
-
Hmm, I wasn't actually planning much after that... maybe bring me over to Sembas and Archer? Should I post? Or will you bring me there?
-
As soon as Kith posts, I can have them come recruit you.
-
Sorry, busy holiday followed by a busy weekend!
-
No worries! We've been really busy as well. :)
-
Sorry for the delay. Post will be up this weekend.
@Faran: tell me what you want Jonas to start training you in. I assumed you wanted some form of hand-hand?
-
IMPORTANT:
I'm off to China on Wednesday night, which would be your Tuesday night. I won't be around for 2 weeks, so I'm gonna need Faidth to Goddess Mod Fenwick to whatever magical place we'll be going :)
I'll probably miss the first part of our soon-to-be epic battle, but don't worry too much about it. Just go on without me first!
-
I think my last post is pretty telling about how personally hopeless I am in situations like that. Ha.
Pretty sure I just discovered why I'm still single.
:P
-
Okay, tired of waiting. I'm going to Deus Ex Machina everyone to their respective positions.
@Depheir: For now, I'll be sending you on the search and rescue mission with Fenwick and Sembas.
@Fenwick: I'm hand-waving the scene where you are recruited for the mission. You didn't really give me anything descriptive to work with for you "long walk" so I'll just fill in the blanks.
@Faran: Still haven't heard from you regarding your intentions with Jonas, so I'm just putting you back at his place.
-
Oh, woops :S Didn't get what was happening.
-
Post is up. Sorry for the delay; still recovering from some unfortunate dry sockets due to having my wisdom teeth extracted, coupled with a bit of a sinus cold. With the holidays out of the way, we should be able to get back to posting normally. :)
-
I think had previously forgotten to mention that Fensten was there when you initially moved through the portal. Bear in mind, Dennan never goes anywhere without him.
-
@Fenwick: Are you actually casting the protection spell on the boy or just preparing to do so? Just seeking clarification because your action may have a pretty profound impact on what happens to him next.
-
Eh, just preparing to do so. The idea is that if the confusion spell hits Dennan and he goes berserk, Fenwick will cast his own spell the moment Dennan shows any signs of totally losing it. Hopefully it'll save the boy
-
I will be honest with you: you guys have this one turn to effectively intervene. If Dennan is not impacted by the confusion spell he WILL attempt to kill the boy.
Sembas and Rethagos have already performed their actions, so Fenwick is really the only one left that may impact the outcome of what happens here.
-
Mmm... Oh I see, I'm using my turn to only prepare Fenwick's spell? If that's the case, then go right ahead and get Fenwick to cast it, his conclusion would logically lead him to casting it.
However, if he doesn't need to spend a turn preparing to cast his spell and seeing how things turn out, I'd rather keep the integrety of the game and just go with my previous decision. Who knows, letting the boy die may really screw us over 8)
Bottom line: If Fenwick requires spending 2 actions in preparing spell ---> casting spell, take it that Fenwick cast his spell around the same time Rethagos does.
If Fenwick requires to spend only 1 action ---> Go with what my post intended with.
-
O_o ? I don't recall saying that you NEED to take a turn to prepare a spell. From what you had said in your initial post, it sounded like you were preparing the spell but did not intend on using it this turn.
"In the end, he decides to brace himself, ready to cast a protection spell on the boy if required... "
I needed clarification on this because this may greatly impact what happens here.
The only real restriction on spells is you can't cast more than one spell in a turn. If you say you're using the protection spell, basically, your spell and Rethagos's spell would go off within seconds of each other when I resolve the action. Your spells always go off on the same turn you cast them, though that doesn't always mean they will work effectively.
-
Aaaah, woops. I wanted Rethagos' spell to go off first, then see the after effects, and allow Fenwick to cast his spell ASAP if anything bad appears to be happening.
So I guess in this sense, Fenwick will cast his spell on the next turn (if necessary)?
-
Gotcha. Okay, I'm going to be a bit indisposed the next few days, so I'm not sure when I'll get the chance to post again, but hopefully by the end of the week.
-
@Nemo: Probably a good thing you didn't use a protection spell on that "kid." ;)
@Rethagos: Your fate will be revealed in the next post.
-
Sorry for the delay.
@Nemo: If you would like to engage Constancy/Dennan in conversation at the camps, you may be able to pick up a useful spell.
@Kitharsis: If you actively help Archer to attempt to uncover Depheir's path, you may actually be able to gain a tracking skill/spell.
@Depheir: It seems you have picked up a hitchhiker. Feel free to discourse with the Carnis, though I can't promise he'll be willing to speak to you. At this point, he pretty much has full control of your body, though your thoughts are your own. He won't attempt to eavesdrop on anything you're thinking.
-
I'll probably try to toss up a post before the end of the weekend.
-
Hey guys!
As stated in this thread here: http://nerdramblingz.com/starforums/index.php?topic=222.0;topicseen (http://nerdramblingz.com/starforums/index.php?topic=222.0;topicseen)
I'll be in the army. I'll be confined for the first 2 weeks, and when I return for a 2 day weekend, I have family and friends to catch up with, weep for the joy of having air con and whatever crap like that. As such, if I am unable to post in time for the story to move on, I'm allowing Faidth to take control of Fenwick and GOD MOD him forward.
God Mod is such a cool two-word word.
See you soon!
-
Good luck, Nemo. I hope everything goes well, and I'll take good care of Fenwick in your absence.
@All: It had slipped my mind that midterm grades are due tomorrow, and as such, I have 106 spelling tests to grade, so posting will have to wait another day or two. At that time, you'll get a response to your previous posts and possibly will be introduced to Jorumn's character. If you haven't taken a look at his character sheet, be sure to do so.
-
@Nemo: Good luck! Many adventures await, no doubt. :P
@Players: I've read over everyone's characters, NPCs, and some of the posts in Bulwark of Heaven (still working on it, lotsa' posts), so hopefully I won't be too in the dark. If you want to plot things during a battle or whatnot with me, go ahead and shoot me a message and I'll usually respond pretty quickly. :D
@Faidth: Thank you for your ridiculously swift approval and implementation of my character. :3
-
As this is now the only battle I am participating in, I am ready to resume posting again as soon as my character can be brought back in.
-
Great! We'll check back in with Sig as well! ;D
-
Sorry for the delay. I have parent/teacher conferences again tonight (until pretty late.) However, I do have off tomorrow and should hopefully have something up. :)
-
@Jorumn: You will be added in during the next post. I've already got a plan for your entrance! :)
@Kitharsis: You've gotten another Wisdom-Based spell now. I'll let you write the stats. (submit to your character sheet as usual.) The jist of it is, it is a tracking-based spell that can be used whenever you encounter a set of prints. It illuminates the prints of that single individual or entity, easily allowing you to pick them out from other footprints and anything that would normally interfere with your ability to track the footprints.
@Nemo: Nemo, whenever you check in again, you can upgrade your LIFESAVER spell to now heal bones rather than just mending deep cuts. It may not be an instantaneous healing and will require a great deal of attention on your character's part, but Fenwick can now mend bones.
-
Awesome! I'll be here, suffering from child-waiting-for-Christmas syndrome. :P
-
Depheir and Sig,
You have until Wednesday to post, at which time if you do not, your characters will be god-modded.
-
Jorumn, I hope that your introduction was okay. I was not intending to introduce the Lady of Shadows until the second part of the story arc, but I was very eager to work you in!
-
I thought it was awesome, and I actually laughed pretty hard at him glaring at Depheir. It was perfectly in character. Thanks for working me in! :D
Real quick though, Depheir is the only one that can hear the Carnis, right?
EDIT: Oh yeah and just for future reference, if you're comfortable with it, feel free to God-mod Fiorin a bit in your posts if it helps things along. I doubt you'll ruin my character by doing so.
-
At this point, the Carnis has reached his destination, and as such, is back to being incorporeal. The main reason he took possession of Depheir was so he could 1.) Move faster (he can move much more quickly with a host) and 2.) Bring Depheir to the Lady of Shadows to prove he had found Ageless in the area. Thus, the Carnis can be heard by anyone now (if he chooses to address them) and Depheir is no longer possessed. Since you would have been there for awhile, you are likely on good terms with the Carnis as he, Aras and the Lady are all acquainted with you.
Feel free to engage with the Carnis (Lai) if you should feel the need to do so. More of his origin will likely be revealed in the next post.
-
Ohhh okay. I was just confused because of: "You should keep our strength up" and wasn't sure if he was still inside Depheir or not.
In case an interaction with Lai comes up (and these are probably stupid questions), is he visible, and if not, is there a way to detect his presence?
-
Sorry. Typo. Fixed it. It should read "your" and not "our."
Not at all! Those aren't stupid questions! Lai is incorporeal so he does not have a physical body. In one of the in-battle posts I talked a little bit about the Carnis and the fact that people (not even Ageless or Forsaken) can usually perceive them. The only beings that seem to be able to pick up on the presence of a Carnis are animals, and because Dennan is really more animal than man due to his nature and abilities, he can pick up on things that animals can.
However, it is worth mentioning, that Lai is pretty reasonable (when he's not being a belligerent asshole) and realizes people don't generally like talking to air. If you ask for him to show himself, he will take the form of an illusion so you have somewhere to direct your statements.
-
@All: You have until Thursday to post, at which point your characters will be god-modded if you have not.
-
I think I've seen it before, but just to make sure: posting twice is okay as long as it's just for character to character interactions, right? Hope I didn't jump the gun. :P
-
Yes! That is both complete fine and highly encouraged! :)
-
Hey all! I don't have much time. I've been posted as a driver and I'm going back to camp very soon. Regardless, I don't think there's much that I can get Fenwick to do right now. I'll update his character sheet later on and have him go through the spell in his mind over and over again. Cos hey, it's cool to do so. :D
-
Gah. I hate lengthy expositions. They take forever to post.
-
A very interesting read though!
Quick couple of questions:
-Can Fiorin sense the others, or is that an ability that comes to Ageless later on?
-Also, he is technically still not officially Ageless, right?
-
Fiorin would perceive it as an itch in the back of his mind. He will feel it, but may not know its significance. The more he is around other Immortalis, the more the skill will develop. Eventually, it is one that every Immortalis gets. The Elders are pros at this, but for the Childer Immortalis, it will take time to cultivate.
Fiorin is an Immortalis, but has not technically sided with the Ageless or Forsaken at this point. I'm sure you've already read up on this but just for the purpose of summary:
Ageless: When not assisting in the human realm, the Ageless reside in the capital city of Avalon, a place that can only be reached through a "Gateway." The Ageless are dedicated to the preservation of humankind and serve a benevolent being known as the Divine. The leaders of the Ageless are the Archon (Oran Raven) and the Blood-Warden General (Deya Fury.) Together, they lead The Bulwark of Heaven, the strongest of the Ageless who generally do battle on the frontlines. The majority of the Ageless end up joining the Bulwark at some point in their existence.
Forsaken: Are dedicated to the destruction of humanity and when not terrorizing, raping, pillaging and plundering, reside in their capital, Darastae, which is a horrific reflection of Avalon itself. Their leader is Severan Deceit (once known as Severan Victor.) He was once an Ageless who defected and became the champion of the Adversary. Severan is exceptionally powerful, but generally tends to avoid the frontlines. His second is Lt. Cauter, who loves nothing more than capturing and torturing Ageless, and slaughtering humans.
You technically have a choice in which faction you want to join, but right now, you are in the company of an Ageless party. Everyone will have the opportunity to defect to the Forsaken should they choose to, knowing it will likely put you at odds with other PCs.
-
I read up on a lot of it, but the summarized clarification was really helpful. Thanks for taking the time to do so! :)
EDIT: Okay, posted and edited it to have a little more character interaction with Depheir.
-
Just waiting for Sig to post. Unless I hear from Greymore, I am probably just going to god-mod him again after Sig posts.
-
Anyone who hasn't posted yet has until tomorrow, at which point your character will be god-modded if you do not.
-
Just deleted the last two lines of my post for reasons of conflicting with the rest of the post. XD
Mmmm... tense situations with potentially dangerous individuals. Always a good time.
-
Anyone who hasn't posted has until tomorrow, at which time you will be god-modded.
-
I'm back now. Sorry for the delay.
-
Okay, now that everyone has posted, I'll have a post up tomorrow. Hopefully there will be no further delays in the immediate future.
-
Sorry. Worked late. I get off earlier tomorrow, so I should have something up by tomorrow evening.
-
Posted! About that last line in my post though, it's sort of presumptuous I think assuming Lai would accept the proposition. Should I delete it?
-
Nope. You're fine! :)
-
Last question (I think): since Fiorin has to do some catching up to do, will he involved in the battle this post or next? I figured the latter, but it would look silly if I was wrong and he sat idly by when I was supposed to have him jump in on this post. XD
-
You can post this turn. I would just request that you post after the other PCs since they will likely arrive a few minutes before you in game.
-
Anyone who does not post by Tuesday, August 2nd, will be god-modded. No exceptions or extensions.
-
I may be forgetting the rules. But we can perform one action per post? So Sembas casting FireBreath was his turn for this post, correct? Or is he able to whack someone with his spear or fire off an arrow too?
-
Thank you for the clarification. I'm actually fine with my post.
If Sembas was to fire arrows at the Otaktay he could potentially kill them.
He is still fired up from adrenaline and the exchange with the Lady of Shadows and Aras so running headlong into battle is just fine.
Edit: Plus by the time he reached the Otaktay they should be ready for him and it just felt odd writing that he ran all that way and expected to smack someone with his spear.
-
I'm back again! And Faidth should be right behind me! ;D
Let's get this show on the road. Sig's attack is obviously meant to drive back the lead attacker, giving him a chance to either rip his throat out or just cut his head clean off with a counter. Striking Ballad has no cast time and automatically allows a counter if it hits. If the initial blow doesn't hit for whatever reason, just disregard the counter.
-
YAY! I always get super excited when this BB updates, so that's awesome news to me.
By the way Cam, is Sig's character history anywhere on this board? Between the emergency booze post and all this mention of "Son of Alviss" and ripping people apart, I gotta' admit, I'm curious and I'd like to read more about him. If not, no biggie.
-

Sig's history is deeply entwined with the backstory of the Sons of Alviss, and that is SPOILERS for a later story arc, so I'm not at liberty to say anything yet. Once we reach that part of the story, I'll be allowed to post Sig's history.
However, there's nothing really stopping you from asking Sig things in character. ;)
-
Sweet! I intend to have him interact with other characters as much as possible as soon as opportunities present themselves.
Oh yeah, everybody posted, so maybe I should post my intro to battle action... mah bad. I'm on it!
-
Let me resolve that actions from all the previous attacks and when I do, your character will enter the fray, Jorumn. :)
-
Oh okay cool. XD Thanks for letting me know!
-
Test, test. Is this thing on?
After a rather lengthy hiatus, and your frequent inquiries to the administrator, I have decided to resume The Legion Immortalis BB. I will need some time to review my previous materials and to prepare for future posts, but I intend to start no later than the beginning of next month. I would like to take a roll call here to determine who will be resuming this BB with me, or if there are any here who would like to withdraw their characters from the BB. So, if you will be participating in this BB, just add a reply to this thread so I know how many/who to account for.
-
I am highly looking forward to this battle restarting and continuing playing as Sig, if you'll allow it.
-
Absolutely! As the only Chosen of Alviss in the party thus far, he will be an integral part of what I have planned.
-
I might have found about the Administorum from Soul Reaver’s TTBE, but it was The Legion Immortalis that sealed the deal. Awesome story and very well written. I would love to be a part of it. I was so sad when it stopped a few weeks after I joined. :'(
-
AWWWW YEAHHHHH!
-
@Radobe: Aww! Well, thank you for being willing to be part of the story! I have always thought one of things that makes Legion so great is the players in it! Glad to have you aboard!
@Archdemon Stu: Well, you may have changed your handle, but glad to see your enthusiasm is still intact! :P Glad to have you back!
I am going to read back through some of the threads this week to refresh myself with where I left off. As I mentioned, everything will be up and running by the beginning of August (earlier if I can manage it!)
-
Great news! After much searching, I was able to find a large amount of my old materials (notes on characters, general direction for the plot, etc.) This may actually speed things up on my end! I am currently reading through part of the archives to make sure I don't miss anything important, but at this rate, once I hear back from everyone who was involved, I may be able to begin earlier than August!
-
So. Much. Win.
-
I'm in.
-
I spoke with john greymore (Fenwick) and he will also be rejoining us. So as of right now, all of our previous players will be returning (save for Depheir and Faran Beshral.) Siron will also be making his much anticipated entrance. Over the next few days, I will be doing some reorganizing in related threads (NPCs, Locations, Enemies, etc.) If you have not done so yet, I would advise reading through at least the Part 4 thread to refresh yourself on where we left off. I can tell you that we will not be picking up in the midst of battle, but there will be a resolution to your interactions with Bayard Cael and the Otaktay.
-
Is there any chance for a retcon of current characters?
I don't have anything particular in mind, just seeing if it would be an option.
-
I would entertain the possibility should anyone have any suggestions. Obviously Sembas can't start randomly shooting eyebeams if he wasn't able to do so before, but if anyone had minor changes to make to their character, I would likely allow it.
As for those characters who are not returning, I will leave an opening for them to come back should they ever desire to do so.
-
For me there's been just one small thing bothering me about my character that's super nit-picky: my choice to replace j's with i's in order to facilitate people not familiar with the particular culture I was imitating somewhat. As of late, with Thor and Skyrim and a bunch of other viking-like media coming out, people seem to be a lot more familiar with it.
If I copied what I wrote in my character sheet and replaced the I's with J's, could I fix that? :P If not, it's not a big deal since it isn't the exact same culture and would still make perfect sense. Just nit-picking.
I dunno', what do you guys think? Fjorin, or Fiorin?
-
I would be completely in favor of that! I am actually kind of surprised you had not done it that way since the beginning! I always found early Norse/Scandinavian culture to be quite interesting (I teach a unit on Norse mythology for my students! :) ) So either way is fine with me.
-
Okay, Part 1 of my post is up. This was intended to wrap up the combat with Bayard Cael. Part 2 of my post (which I should hopefully have up within the next few days) will lead the party back to Avalon where the fallen will be laid to rest, and a decision must be made about the Otaktay. You may feel free to have your characters react to what they have just witnessed.
Once the party returns back to Avalon, Siron will also be introduced.
-
Craps.
I thought I had more time to reacquaint myself with Sembas and Faile.
I must prepare!
-
Sig is all tuned up and ready to play. 8)
-
WHOA! Wasn't expecting that today. Pretty much the most pleasant surprise ever.
Fjorin it is. :)
Also, to clarify, is Fjorin still with the group, or did he get warped to Cleo's domain?
-
I found the email from starblade in my spam folder a month after it was posted. My apologies. I am late to the party. >:)
It is indeed heartening to return! My military service has ended and I will soon be whisked off to university (studying Philosophy). Thank goodness I kept my Fenwick character sheet on my computer!!! :D:D:D
Here's to kicking ass ;)
-
@Archdemon Stu: Fjorin would have witnessed the events. They were preparing to move through the portal, but were interrupted by the events in the post. My next post will take place shortly after their entrance to Avalon.
@john greymore: Congrats on the culmination of your military service, and best wishes for your continuing education at university! Philosophy seems like it would be a very interesting course of study!
-
Thank you Faidth :) Yes, it would be extremely enriching to life itself!
Do note that I might take a day or 2 more to reply. I'm catching up on our threads and posts to get back into character. I have forgotten some nuances of Fenwick over the last few years. If it's not much trouble you can go ahead and god mod me a bit to move the story on!
-
You have waited two years; I can wait two days. :P I'll give everyone a chance to reply before I move on.
-
I should have our next post up Monday (or Tuesday at the very latest.) You'll have the opportunity to travel back to Avalon, witness the fallout from Constancy's death, meet some new NPCs, and we'll also have Siron's introduction.
-
Totally worth the wait! Let’s do this!
-
Okay, you have a bit of downtime before the next mission. I placed you in the tavern after the wake. All NPCs you have previously encountered can be found here. Here is what I need to know:
1. What are you doing?
2. Who are you talking to?
3. What are your plans in Avalon before the next mission.
@Radobe and Archdemon Stu: In the next post I make, I would like to just say that Fury extended the invitation to the Bulwark and you accepted, unless you would prefer we actually take care of that in character. Please let me know which way you would prefer.
-
Since Fjorin has so much weirdness about him, I was quite looking forward to his meeting with General Fury actually, haha! He has a commonly evil creature residing within him who blew up Dennan, he was found by the Lady of Shadows, he's already killed an Immortalis... and he just saw valkyries, so from a religious perspective, he's mind blown. I think it'd be fun to read if you don't mind. :)
On an unrelated note, I know this is listed somewhere, but when do they get the honorary names? Archer, Blood, Justice, etc.
-
Oh dear. I seem to have made an error. The wake is being held right now while the funeral was what had just passed. Don't mind if I make an edit to correct that?
-
@Archdemon Stu: Somehow, I completely forgot about Lai! What I will do then is I will give everyone a chance to make a reply to the funeral/wake post, then I will send you and Siron to meet with General Fury in character. You'll get the customary Bulwark invitation the rest of the companions have received, and while in Avalon, you will have some time to meet with NPCs, explore the area, etc.
In regards to the Ageless names, I am glad you asked! Without giving too much away, there is a massive plot point that will take place (probably after two more short field missions) during which that question will be answered.
-
I also want Siron to have a chat with Fury. There are some conditions he wants to be met before he enlists. I was also looking forward to finding out how you will send him his message. After all I did leave him in the middle of nowhere with nothing but the soaked clothes he was wearing. ;D
-
@Radobe: You know what? I think I can whip something up for you right now on how you actually got to Avalon. I would have given you the customary introduction right off the bat, but you have been waiting long enough and I wanted to bring you to Avalon ASAP. After the wake, the General is going to send word to have you and Fjorin brought to the Bulwark of Heaven HQ.
-
Thank you very much! Much appreciated.
-
@Radobe: There you go. I hope that is okay for a little background on how Siron found his way to Avalon.
By the way, the rest of you have actually seen Siron's escort, Captain Lurien Honor before: he was the young man that Muse was talking to during the falcon race. I was looking for an excuse to bring him to the foreground, so thank you Radobe for giving me a good vessel to do it!
-
"A little" yes. ;D Thanks again I'm loving it!
-
Great! I'm glad! :D I really try to keep with the character's back story as much as possible, but it is admittedly pretty awesome when I can find a way to link them seamlessly into the story (i.e. Fenwick's book actually being an Immortalis, Lai being able to take the shape of someone from the Ebonmane clan for Fjorin, Faile having been to Avalon as a chick for Sembas.) I was hoping that the "knight" angle would work well for your character's introduction. All of the player characters are pretty unique, and their diverse backgrounds give me a lot to work with.
By the way, Radobe, feel free to pick Honor's brain about anything you wish. The wake is also a good opportunity to get introduced to other NPCs. I will be posting stats for Honor so you have an idea as to what he could further train you in should you strike up a friendship with him. Given your history, I am sure he would be more than willing to work with you to strengthen your abilities.
@Kitharsis: Given your growing rapport with Dennan, I would highly encourage you to visit him at some point during the downtime in Avalon. As someone you have been allying with, he will have a "gift" for you.
-
While reading through Siron's history I was definitely wondering about the knight's whereabouts, so that was a seamless tie-in. :)
Quick question! While I do intend to have Fjorin interact with other NPCs, seeing as how he's an introverted sort of fellow and Lai's constantly in his head, can he learn abilities from Lai? I'll still have him interact with the spirit either way, just curiosity mostly.
-
Yes, I already have some abilities planned that you would be able to get from Lai. The biggest benefit you get from him is while he is piggy-backing on you, he has the opportunity to aid you (i.e. when he was able to speed your movements.) He also has the ability to heal you, strengthen your attacks, make you dodge faster, etc. It would not be in place of actually having the attributes those feats go off of, but he would be to assist you in various situations.
-
Ugh, I wish I wouldn't have been so busy today and noticed this sooner! I'm really excited to make a post for Sig but it's just too late right now. I'll get a post up at some point tomorrow, guaranteed.
-
Ack, I posted that before reading the OOC.
I'm hoping that we will have a few days in Avalon to interact with everyone?
-

While I am not the Battle Master, I can safely say based on conversations with Faidth and her latest OOC posts that we're going to be in Avalon for a bit.
-
I can confirm there will be some downtime in Avalon.

I have retconned my misquote, making you both look quite silly.

And thus the saga continues!

We'll return, and in greater numbers.
-
Let us keep ourselves from incurring the wrath of the Battle Master and return this thread to it's rightful topic, shall we? :p
-
You read my mind. :p
-
Must... resist... abusing Quote function...
Allow me to say that participating in The Legion Immortalis again is awesome. I didn't realize how much I missed it.
It also makes me realize that I need to get my butt in gear and work on The Calling more...
Glad you're back Faidth.
-
Spent all last night questing for booze and cleaning up my truck for Otakon. I'm going to try and get a post up while I'm working today.
See, this is why I should never guarantee anything...
-
@Kitharsis: Thank you! It's great to be back. I am enjoying getting to write with all of you again!
-
I had my post done! And then it told me that someone else had posted before me, and I had to edit the entire back half of my post because it included Blood. Oops. :p
My post is up. I can probably reply again tonight after I get home if anything happens involving Sig.
-
Slapped a post up! I used a line from my short story, but I felt it was appropriate. XD
-
Altered my post to be true to Fjorin's character. He has little interest in festivities, especially when he just had his mind blown. :P
-
@Archdemon Stu: I should have a response post up for you either tonight or tomorrow (hopefully.) Normally I would have responded to yours first, but I am a little limited on time today and I couldn't resist the opportunity to give Sembas a "new perspective."
@Kitharsis: You may now add WISDOM- SHAPESHIFTING to your character's attributes. Right now, you can only take the form of the creature you are currently impersonating. Dennan will continue to grant you additional forms as you interact with him.
-
Lol, field mouse form. Great way to learn some perspective.
I have a feeling Sembas will be a little distraught.
-
Oooooh, now Faile can fly you around pretty easily, along with the obvious stealthy stuff. Think you just became one of the fastest travelers.
And it's cool Faidth! I quite enjoy the interactions and goings-on of other characters as much as my own. :)
Besides, a response the day after is still fast as hell.
-
@Archdemon Stu: There you go, and I finished it sooner than I expected!
@Starblade: I know you are rather indisposed this weekend, so I had Blood acknowledge Sig, but did not have too much heavy interaction for you this post.
-
So, do Sembas's skills still work while in shapeshifted form?
Or is he restricted to the natural abilities of the animal that he turns into?
Has anyone read the Redwall series ;D
-
I remember the days when I used to have to find an Internet café to keep up with the boards while I'm away. Now I can post from my phone. :D
I should be able to keep up with Sig. I have my laptop and time to post at night. I'll get a reply up tonight before I get too smashed. :p
-
...before I get too smashed. :p
Famous last words ;)
-
@Kitharsis: Sembas would not be able to use his abilities while in an animal form. The positive trade-off, is when you eventually acquire more aggressive forms (i.e. dire wolf, bear, etc.) you would have the ability to attack as those animals do. The other benefit is while in this form you will actually be able to understand the speech of all animals (not just Faile.)
-
Famous last words ;)
It's how I'd want to be remembered. :P
Going to try to throw up a post during a slow spell at work today, don't know if I'll have any opportunities until Sunday otherwise.
Fjorin's mind = (http://www.zawarudo.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/mind-blown-2.gif)
-
Hey guys, I'm really sorry I haven't been posting. I had family come over and yesterday was National Day for Singapore, so I couldn't really take any time to read. I'll get a post up by today (Which would be by most of your mornings)
-
Fenwick: It's cool, brotha'!
Man, it's strange playing Fjorin, since I'm a borderline alcoholic. I'm sitting next to a stash of almost 200 bucks worth of booze...
...Okay, scratch "borderline."
-
One becomes an alcoholic, only after he begins to drink on his own. And as long as Lai is keeping Fjorin company, he is nothing like you! :P
-
Sorry my post was so brief. I'm still posting from my phone, and I'm trying to keep Sig from walking over Siron's scene with Blood. I'll be home and back to normal posting tomorrow.
-
Thanks for your consideration! :P I was kind of expecting a more spectacular ending, but I suppose smaking a child imortalis streight on the face, was not warranted just yet. Lets see where I get it goes from here!
-
As a Childer Immortals, Blood really wouldn't take Siron seriously as he is yet untested in battle. It is more to demonstrate how much she can accomplish through something as mundane as stomping her foot. Don't worry ; you'll get to see Blood break it out eventually. :p
-
I am actualy looking forward to that. :)
-
Neeeyaahahahhahaa! While you're all doing all this talking and resting and learning new stuff, I'll have Fenwick put in danger!
I've discussed this with Faidth a few days ago and told some of you over Skype, but I think I'll put it up here for Kitharsis and future players: I'm bringing Fenwick in a darker direction.
The themes I originally based Fenwick around were on Torment, Power, and Uncertanty, among others. It's also why I intentionally constrained and weakened his powers so that they're not at full power.
However, I think younger me was way too excited to be doing something that somewhat resembled a tabletop role playing campaign. As such, Fenwick became a lot more cheerful than initially conceived. Thankfully, we started our return with a death and death is always a good catalyst for angst and drama.
Of course, for archiving purposes, his cheerfulness did happen and he's currently in a relationship with Cleo (Oooooh the possibilities!!). It's just that if you were to re-read now, the writing style and Fenwick's personality would've metamorphosed pretty jarringly between 2011 and 2013. I do apologise for that and am still scratching my head as I struggle to smoothen the transition. However! As Kierkegaard said, we live life forward and only understand backward. We'll see where this goes :)
-
@john_greymore: I think grim-dark Fenwick just got grounded. :P
@Starblade: I will have Blood's response for you tomorrow.
-
For all that is good you killed my thunder! :P
I actually felt a twinge of pain there :( But consequences are good and all that jazz
-
I gave up on making future plans for my characters in these games long ago. Things often become too fluid to predict. XD
Well, there's Fjorin's post! Haha, that was INCREDIBLY difficult to roleplay! I did not see that coming, hope it's good enough and still feels like Fjorin.
That was challenging and fun to write.
One becomes an alcoholic, only after he begins to drink on his own. And as long as Lai is keeping Fjorin company, he is nothing like you! :P
That cracked me up. XD
-
I don’t recall any one talking about this, so I am going to ask. What kind of economic system is in place in Avalon? If they use money is there a tab for the Bulwark of Heaven in the tavern or something along those lines? ::)
-
It was mentioned long, long ago in one of the posts when we first entered. You're free to take whatever you like without expectation.
-
Yes, save for people's personal property of course. :P
-
I am back from Otakon. I am going to take a nap because I REALLY need one, and then I will be available for more posting from an actual computer and not from my phone during an AMV competition. (I posted during the romantic ones so that I wouldn't miss anything.)
-
I really should keep after this place on the weekends.
If the interactions with the three other field mice is overstretching, I can cut it out of my post.
I have to admit, I found myself working on a novel for Field Mouse Sembas Filden, so I made myself cut it short...
-
That post was awesome, Kith. XD
-
@Kith: Loved it! :D Fantastic as usual!
-
@Kith: I would love to hear more about your adventures as a field mouse. Feel free to god-mod the mice NPCs however you see fit. You can also feel free to post whenever you eventually make it to Dennan. You will be able to find him in his cottage, though it is quite a distance away, at least if you are using mouse legs to get you there.
@Siron: Give me a yay or nay on whether you would like to have a practice combat with Corvus.
-
I have a request before we get into the actual spar. Can you tell me more about the swords in your setting? What I want to know is the sharpness of their edges. In medieval times they were pretty dull, since a sharpened edge could easily be chipped and most combatants had only three or five inches of the pointy end sharpened. They compensated for that with strength and technique. (Yes I spent some time reading stuff like that, though I have not checked their credentials :P)
-
I would really accept either; I think it comes down to the preference of the combatant.
-
This is proving to be an interesting exploration of the character. It's walking a fine line between too social for an introvert in a socially demanding scenario, and being comfortable around a particular individual, since he is actually familiar with Lai to some degree. Also, having to account for a state where drinks are involved.
EDIT: Also accounting for being excited in general about his new home.
Also: STILL loving this field mouse thing...
-
Well I was asking since there are a moves to trap swords, in which you hold the swords edge. Razor sharp edges not cool to hold.
-
@Radobe: You won't find out which it is until you try. :p Bear in mind, you are fighting with a mortal weapon. The sword you saw him holding is unlike anything you've seen. General rule of thumb for sparring against Ageless: they don't try to injure you. So he will chiefly use the flat of his blade to hit you... If he uses it at all. :p
-
Af... I gues Siron will be falling flat on his ass again. Bah I will do what I can to prevent it! :P
-
You guys are awesome. I'm glad you like my post.
As I'm writing the next one I keep stepping back from it and realizing that I must be a little crazy. But I think I'm ok with that. I think...
-
Let me apologize in advance for the ridiculous length of that post.
Wow.
-
I'll have a post up for Sig after I get off work.
-
@Kith: Don't apologize for the length of the post! It was awesome! Makes me wonder what other cool new things Kith will encounter as he gets more forms!
@Siron: Corvus is giving you the first move. I know you haven't really experienced any combat yet, just remember to post your action and wait for me to post a reaction. Good rule of thumb is "Should the attack hit, it will..." then describe the desired effect. Remember, you only get one action, so you can't throw dirt at him, swipe at him, and try to elbow him. Your posts have been awesome so far, so the more detail you throw into what Siron is doing, the better.
-
I am writing it up right now. I will be as detailed as possible, but i wont promise anything good, since this is a first for me.
Edit: Since I dont realy know what his ready stance is, :P I will assume he has lifted his sword infront of his body.
-
What is dexterity DEXTERITY: CELERITY? I couldnt find it in the atribues sheet, or did you mean DEXTERITY: ACCURACY?
-
At character generation, you have a limited number of options available for attributes. There are actually a lot more you can learn from NPCs, specifically Elder Ageless. Dexterity: Celerity is considered a Legendary Attribute. Think of it as REALLY fast speed and reaction. It is DEFINITELY an attribute your character can eventually gain access to, should he wish to train in it. Corvus and Dennan inherited it as a bloodline trait, but other NPCs such as Archer, Jonas, Fury, Blood, and the Archon would all be able to provide training once you reach the point you can acquire Legendary Attributes.
-
Thought I'd elaborate that Fjorin is referring to the Lady of Shadows when he- yeah, ugh, long day. Ever had one of those days where you look back on some writing and can't tell if it's coherent or not? I usually can't tell until a few days after. XD
-
Field Mouse Sembas Filden was great fun to write.
Everyone is doing a great job! I find myself checking the boards multiple times per day hoping there are updates.
And with Shadowhaunt still going strong the boards are threatening to take over my entire day lol.
-
Locking topic for length.
