Title: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on April 29, 2012, 12:03:41 PM
Since Cameron hasn't been responding to anything I've been saying to him and I know you lot are tired of waiting, I've gone ahead and made everything set to go.

Wheeee~!  I get to RP again!

EDIT: Oh just to clarify, is The Gorger on the same level as the rest of the beasts?  Are all the players in one area now?  I'll modify my post with any new information. :)

all beasts are on the bottom level of the ship, just above the bottom of the hull to make sure nobody has a fit of rage and punches a hole in the bottom. Tamers are watching over them.

Your post is fine. Walter was headed down there.

I am new to RP boards and even though I read the rules I am not certain of a few things so If I’ve written something out of line do tell. I’ve made a few assumptions with my post namely: there are private cabins for the personnel on the ship and that the tamers allow the werewolves to howl at the moon :D.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on April 30, 2012, 07:06:48 PM
Oh yeah, that's all fine. Mainly the Tamers are keeping the beasts in line to make sure they don't go on a rampage in case someone slips.

I'm not ignoring anybody with that last post, I just felt it required immediate attention, what with a beast being released into the upper decks.

Yes, that post was fun to write for me.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 03, 2012, 10:29:14 PM
Since we are going to start a fight soon I need to address the issue of how my spells will affect The Gorger? My buff is supposed to invigorate the body and increase its performance but since he is mostly a rotting corpse (if I got it right) I wonder how that will work.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 04, 2012, 05:35:40 AM
Well technically he's still somewhat alive, and can feel pain. Spells can still hurt him, and can kill him if he's not careful, but he can take more hits than the average human, to be certain.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 04, 2012, 12:30:01 PM
So since he's technically alive, that would be a yes?  WHEE super buffs and heals!

On another note: The Gorger technically couldn't make half the sounds he's making in his speech without lips.  It's okay though.  He's a supernatural creature, so his voice is like... magic, or something. >_>

On another another note: this character is way for fun to RP than I thought he would be.

The Gorger is definitely making it hard to find any empathy for it.  You're doing quite a good job making him all appetite :)

Hope the lot of you are enjoying my narration. I'm trying to put out the importance that Walter and Alucard will have later on without making the story centric on them. You are all the main characters. Alucard is sort of the Deus Ex Machina, and Walter is the Mentor.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Kitharsis on May 04, 2012, 04:46:32 PM
Yes, the story is moving along quite well.  I'm having a fun time trying to determine how Sun Wu actually fits in this whole thing.

I'm very eager to start the first battle :D

It might be useful to explain how you would like combat to flow before we muddle all your plans in three posts.

Edit: meh that didn't come out the way I wanted it to.  You're doing a great job for your first battle here!
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 04, 2012, 05:08:07 PM
Now that I think about it, there should be duration on my buff. I remember that I read in the Legion Immortalis  OOC  thread, that  Faidth used dice to determine the duration of a debuff. Should I adopt the same approach?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 04, 2012, 08:04:37 PM
A static amount of turns (I don't know how fast paced or long these battles will be) would take the risk portion out of it and allow you to more carefully strategize, but dice are always a fun mechanic for spells like that.  Might suck if you score a critical miss though.

I like the character combination we have going.  The character development will be good times. :3  Good, neutral, evil.  Pious, disciplined, hungry.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 04, 2012, 09:34:43 PM
The battles will be pitched and violent, but not eternally long. Maybe a half-dozen posts, which, at the rate we're going, will be done in not a lot of time, will make up my narration of it. Do what you will, and I'll present important targets and critical points in the fight.

As for the duration, it's your spells, it's entirely up to you what you want to do with them.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 04, 2012, 11:03:53 PM
Alright so dice it is. And since it is a buff  I will go with 1 to 6 based on the 6 sided dice.

Well The Gorger got 2 turns :D
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 04, 2012, 11:08:03 PM
2 turns to slaughter stuff.  Check!

So when it says the boarding planks were readied, does that mean we can engage now?  And if so, what's on the other side?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 05, 2012, 04:24:58 AM
Well we all had a turn to prepare, so now we wait for the opening post of the battle.

Edit: Failed to check board before posting.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 05, 2012, 07:54:33 AM
they're readied, not dropped. You probably won't be the first ones off the boats. Get yourselves ready, and don't tick off this turn as one of the two that the buff lasts.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 05, 2012, 08:40:34 AM
I do know how to Google but I was thinking it would be a good idea to set up a beastry for the story. Since some people (me) may not be very familiar with all the beast we will encounter and all their traits, or at least the traits that will apply for the BB. I remember reading a post about those creatures from shadow chorus but I couldn't find.

Quick question: how strong is the scent of blood?  Just want a general estimate of hungering frenzy buff.

Also, when I get a moment, ima have The Gorger try to clear an opening.

EDIT: Actually, another idea...

EDIT EDIT:  I figured with Rau's buff and hungering frenzy he might be able to lob a wight around, if not, I'll come up with something else. :P
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 08, 2012, 05:39:40 AM
It's a battle. One side is made of zombies and doesn't have any blood to spill, but the other side is mostly living creatures that bleed plenty.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 08, 2012, 11:29:07 AM
Can ghouls get nourishment from zombie flesh?  I figured they're not too picky in that aspect, but thought I'd check.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 08, 2012, 12:08:30 PM
I had a few thoughts about that and I realized that I wasn’t certain if ghouls can assimilate magical abilities or only physical traits. I tried to think as if they could, but then it occurred to me that barrow wrights, like most wrights, have a more or less random body, that could be anything. Meaning the magical abilities it has are not tied to the actual body but to the souls. So unless the multitude of souls alter its physical form in a way, can The Gorger get anything out of consuming the vessel?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 08, 2012, 02:54:18 PM
No, Ghouls only gain physical traits from things they devour. They can get sharpened teeth of a vampire, but can't gain any of its supernatural abilities. It doesn't get any magical abilities from eating anything unless said magical ability is actually part of their physiology. Like a dragon. Eating a dragon would give him its flame-sacs. Not that that's foreshadowing or anything.

As for nourishment; flesh is flesh. Rotting flesh tastes like crap, but it's still flesh.

I just need some clarification here. Is the nuckelavees phalanx coming from the direction The Gorger is pushing the wights?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 09, 2012, 03:05:34 PM
They're coming from the direction of the ship. If you've changed direction, then no.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I

Yeah I probably should've mentioned I intended for him to be going the same way as the nuckelavees.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I

I want to clarify that the Holy Light spell, does not set undead on fire. The burning effects last only while the undead are within the light.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 10, 2012, 02:27:33 AM
I think the nuckelavees are on our side (tamer pets), but I'm not entirely certain.  Either way the targets are undead though.

I am not sure how I should do this so I am writing here first. Since my character doesn’t have an actual “bless” skill. My thoughts are on using extreme conditioning on the group of archers. Am I allowed to do that? Or should I write a post where Rau blesses some arrows?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 25, 2012, 04:38:53 AM
Mind if I sort of pass on this one?  I already kind of did the preparation post, and I feel anything past that might seem forced or repetitive since I kind of jumped the gun.

Yeah, nobody really needs to post here except Rau.

I think the lot of you may like the new character about to be introduced, who isn't part of the current company. I modeled him with someone very specific in mind that you may or may not recognize.

Oh, real quick: I'm going to have Gorger use his Predator ability to gauge his (the cloaked man's) strength in comparison to the strongest person he can detect in the crusade's ranks.  Any info on their levels of power will do.

I am not sure if I am correct but this description reminds me of the warlock from the web comic LFG (looking for group).

Edit: Now that i looked at your changed avatar I am 100% sure it is him :D

His power is on the level of Alucard. Nuff said.

And yes, I modeled him on him, with some specific changes, but he does have a different personality. Still some maniacal psychosis, but he is a different character. I just love the cloaked warlock look.

I find it kind of funny that this battle started long after the current iteration of the epic battle and yet is already nearly twice its length in posts.

Just a thought on how we've actually been keeping a steady stream of activity on this one battle.

Pretty much the classic paladin archetype.  I think you pretty much have to have one for a fantasy setting.

You're fine. it's your character. I left the abilities of the special forces open specifically so you could use them as you wish. It's fine. I just don't want to see a priest Causing an earthquake or shooting a finger of death, or an assassin using holy light, etc etc.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on July 19, 2012, 07:12:10 PM
Yet another ridiculously quick cycle.  I love this group. :P

Oh, quick question: is this a "Write how you pound the opponent down" scenario, or a "Write your intent and wait for response" kind of post?

Also, I only assume The Gorger doesn't have night vision, but he is a product of vampires so... I dunno', I hope I wasn't too presumptuous in my last post to say he was relying on scent.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on July 20, 2012, 12:16:08 AM
He's got what he was given. If he's eaten owls before he's probably got good night vision. Aside from what he gets from what he eats he's a normal half-dead human being.

If that makes any sense.

Also, it will be a more challenging fight, so make your posts your attacks, rather than just assuming hits.

Just to clear up any questions you may have about my last post:

-Hungering Frenzy buff
-Feast buff
-Abomination used to amplify his wolven form, focused into his claws, teeth, hind legs, and fur for extra armor.

I want to clarify that the spell right now is extremely short ranged. So if the werewolf stops he will get out of range.

Post by: Kitharsis on July 26, 2012, 11:34:40 AM
One thing I've wondered on the account of Chi.  Is it a visible force?  Like would Wu's Whirlpool and Geyser attacks be visible to the naked eye?

I kind of assumed that the Whirlpool attack would not be visible, at least not until it was fully executed.  But attacks like Geyser seem like they could be neat to have some flair.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on July 26, 2012, 02:49:05 PM
I always kind of visualized it as an invisible force sort of thing that's made visible by the effects it has on surroundings; cracking stones, kicking up dust, slightly distorting the surrounding air, leaves being blown away, leaving giant imprints on foes upon impact... that kind of stuff.  So, in this case, I think you can have your cake and eat it too.  Either one would be sweet though.  Sun Wu's moves are sort of just inherently badass.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on July 26, 2012, 05:38:31 PM
Chi is sort of a situational thing in regards to visibility. Those who can sense energy, magical or otherwise, can sense Chi visually, seeing it as a sort of bluish-clear aura. As for the moves themselves it depends on the force and nature of the move. A typical monk may attempt to extend his chi with a punch to increase his range, allowing him to 'punch' an object roughly ten feet away from him. The amount of chi this takes is miniscule, and would at most be felt by someone as the air displaces itself in the vacuum left behind by the chi's passage. Another monk, however, might wish to expel his chi about him in a blast-wave of sorts designed to thrust back opponents and knock over surrounding objects. This requires significantly more chi, though it is still not a monumental exertion, and would appear to be a dim blue blast-wave.

The pattern of visible chi intensifies the more powerful the move is, in a spectrum that goes from dark blue to dazzling white, and from dull tones of such to bright as a sun.

For instance, that Geyser attack would have been a sort of teal-blue wave, bright like water reflecting sunlight; moderately bright, and not painful to observe.

Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I

I want to make another clarification. The cracks are not caused by the thrust, but from dispersing the energies within the ground.

Ka-me-ha-me-HA!!!

Should Wu's hair turn spiky and blonde at some point?  :P

Worth noting: A priest cannot cure lycanthropy once it has set in, which can happen within moments of being bitten. Either you got lucky and didn't get infected before the healer fixed you up, or you're next in line to grow some fur.

Sorry for my delay, I unexpectedly had to go out of the city for a while, it went on for more days than I thought, next time I’ll drop a line when something like this happens.

Also, thought I should let you guys know that I'll be gone this coming week for Burning Man again.  Since I won't be able to post, feel free to ghost The Gorger and have him say mean things and want to fight/eat strong stuff if need be. :P

Well no one else is active, so while I agree with you that we are quite productive, there really is no competition to compare with.

To be honest I was mostly looking forward to taking part in The Legion Immortalis BB, but it seems that for now, that  won’t be happening.

I feel ya'.  Been sick myself.

And yeah, I've been enjoying the game as a whole, and it's moving at a nice pace.  Nice mix of action and character development.

Sorry about how small Axel's line with the gorger is, I couldn't really think of what else to say there, the conversation seemed pretty finished.

Oh the funny things you can do with wizard's magic backfires. Don't worry, none of your characters will be affected, but I'm getting my rolling sheet out to see what might have happened to the NPCs by morning.

So I've got to head out now, I'll post the update when I get back home for the day, but before I do I'm giving you all your options if you really want to partake in the magical backfire. All of these will wear off within roughly an hour after waking.

Double vision? No vision. - Temporary blindness.

Drugs? What drugs? - Random hallucinations similar to those one might experience after a heavy dose of hallucinogens.

Boot to the head - a newly formed habit of having heavy things, including large boots, thrown at or fall on your head.

What smells good? - Everything smells like Cooked chicken.

Funny aksent day - Your character has developed a ridiculous accent that visually affects the way his words are typed.

Man? or Wo-man? - Your character appears as the opposite gender.

Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I

I'm putting them up because it's your choice. I don't know how your character would react to anything and I don't want to decide on a malady for you.

No choice-dodging, dammit.

I've already got to choose issues for the rest of the battalion.

It was a tough choice (The Gorger with breasts or an adorable chimney sweep accent was tempting), so I also decided to let the die decide.  Rolled a 2.  The Gorger be trippin'.

Kith, I actually laughed out loud to your "Like a river indeed..."

I think the combination of the relentless attacks on his head combined with the sudden odd interaction with The Gorger really sent Wu for a loop.

Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I

Ok the Latin was easy.

“Venite observáte eos ulterius.” - Come observe them further.

“Hoc unum habet passionem. Ipsi proficiscemini in.” - This one has a passion. They go on.

Google translate ftw!

For the rest Google translate didn’t help, nor did searching through websites with elvish, orcish or dwarven languages. So I dare say they were just gibberish
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on October 24, 2012, 04:59:15 PM
It's not quite gibberish, but it's a pair of languages I'm writing on a need-a-word basis. I write the word and then mark it down in case I ever need it again. I just wanted the third voice to be something related to english since it's the imperials who wrote the common tongue that everyone is speaking in the group.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on October 26, 2012, 06:22:17 AM
It's worth noting that these are the ancient precursors to each of your characters' languages, so while you would be able to get a general, vague meaning behind the words, on the whole you wouldn't know them.

I wanted to give you guys a heads-up; from here on out it's going to be a lot harder. I'm bringing in new types of creatures some time after you leave the city. Best stock up on what you can or you'll be eaten by the grue.

Just kidding about the Grue, but you will be attacked by dangerous things no living being has seen before.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on December 11, 2012, 02:11:23 PM
Since my ghoul recently ingested a buttload of werewolves, I just thought I should inquire about some things.  Does he inherit only enhanced traits of wolves themselves?  So at this point, I'd think he could increase his speed by transforming into a wolven form with some sweet fangs and fur, but it would be without the super strength and regeneration of the actual "WEREwolf," right?

Now... to politely ask a dragon if he can eat them. :P
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on December 11, 2012, 02:44:15 PM
You get natural regenerative powers and freakish strength from devouring as a whole. It's sort of a baseline thing. More corpses devoured means more power. More power means more durability. What you eat provides side bonuses like transformation.

The energy sounds like the spirit of the planet (or whatever it was) from Final Fantasy: the spirit within, the rest sounds a bit like 7 ghost’s “ziphon”, an ability  which is a gift from god and everyone’s capabilities are different and in most cases reflect their personality.

Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on January 14, 2013, 08:09:09 PM
One of those is correct.

I did indeed use Star Wars's Force Energy as part of it. The omnipresent force that travels through all life and impacts everything it touches was part of the inspiration.

The other part was The Holy Light, of Warcraft Lore.

Quote
The followers of the Holy Light do not worship any gods. Instead, it is a philosophy, training its followers to seek perfection within themselves. It is very much an active practice of virtue rather than a passive worship. Those who follow it closely gain spiritual awareness and guidance, allowing them to lead others.

The Holy Light teaches that there is a connection between the self and the universe. This connection manifests as what we feel through both senses and emotions. When a person is moved, through seeing something breathtaking or feeling love for another, that emotion connects him to the universe. Experiencing the emotion ensures that he exists, as something within him felt the emotions or processed the sensual awareness. Because he exists, so must the universe that gave him that feeling. From there, he can act upon the universe, causing more changes to create feeling in others. Thus, the followers of Holy Light seek to make the world a better place by being true to their own emotions.

The next step in recognizing this connection between the self and the universe is developing the goodness within and without. If one wishes for happiness, one must work to better the universe to make others happy. Experiencing the glory and beauty of the world will in turn tap into the inner beauty and glory within one's soul. However, giving in to greed, despair, and unhappiness will only darken the universe. The Holy Light is the glory of the universe reflected upon the soul and mirrored back onto itself.

Taken directly from Wowpedia's entry on the holy light.

I took that concept of self connected to all of reality, and the ability to affect that reality through the self, and combined it with the omnipresent force as the creation of all life, and from there, with my own personal twists, I created the Aether.

I imagine him The Gorger, with somewhat big chained scythes or glaives. He is big, he is fast and he is strong. For me the next logical step is to be able to cleave you in two from 10 meters away. Light and durable, letting him have all the speed he had before, but with twice more the cutting power!

I spent a lot of time agonizing over what to do next and finally decided it was time to gather up since you've all basically achieved your first "LEVEL UP!" experience.

Since it's a transitional phase, mind if I leave this one alone?  The Gorger wouldn't really do anything out of the ordinary at this point.

Would The Gorger know what guns are, or even cannons?  I'm assuming it's all new to anyone who came from the outside of Mordintharas or orc and/or dwarven kingdoms, but I just wanted to verify before I post. :P

Yes, gunpowder is completely unknown to the human races, who are still working with crossbows and ballistae as their most advanced ranged weaponry.

My posts is meant to be Rau experimenting with his new found energy. At first I thought I should speculate on the results, but I changed my mind since that would show what I want from it and since it is meant as an experiment I don’t think I should be the one writing down the results. I did ask shadow, amongst other things, if it was ok with him to write down what happens in these experiments, but I didn’t get a reply on that bit, so I am kind of lost as to how I should do these experiments. Any way I thought it would be a nice way to spice things up!  ;D

Oooooooh, this could turn out very interesting... will it heal parts of his memory?  Maybe the scars on his face?  Will it make The Gorger itchy and uncomfortable from the pure holy energy?  I'm excited.  I like your thinking.

That's up to The Gorger. I'll just paste what I said in the message here.

I'm gonna borrow a bit from Warcraft's lore and also adding a bit of my own.

Quote
Without spoiling too much, we can tell you that wielding the Light is a matter of having willpower or faith in one's own ability to do it. That's why there are evil paladins (for example, the Scarlet Crusade and Arthas before he took up Frostmourne). For the undead (and Forsaken), this requires such a great deal of willpower that it is exceedingly rare, especially since it is self-destructive. When undead channel the Light, it feels (to them) as if their entire bodies are being consumed in righteous fire. Forsaken healed by the Light (whether the healer is Forsaken or not) are effectively cauterized by the effect: sure, the wound is healed, but the healing effect is cripplingly painful. Thus, Forsaken priests are beings of unwavering willpower; Forsaken (and death knight) tanks suffer nobly when they have priest and paladin healers in the group; and Sir Zeliek REALLY hates himself.

Also, a side-effect of receiving the holy light is that, aside from the pain of the healing, undead begin to partially return to life, regaining their physical senses. What this means is that they begin to feel the maggots crawling within their skin, smell their rotting flesh, and taste the mold growing in their mouth. This is overall a living hell for any undead in that situation, though Undead wielders of the Aether suffer nobly and bear with this curse to prick them to their duties.

Sounds like we might have an angry Gorger on our hands.  Or will the small traces of living flesh invigorate him?

Hmmm...

Would pumping entirely too much of that Holy Light into The Gorger return him to life again?  Are we going to have a Holy Light addict on our hands here?
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 08, 2013, 01:31:58 PM
Well I'm not sure how he'd react at this point myself.

Quote
...but keep in mind, while he is technically undead, he wasn't completely drained of blood to become a ghoul, and his blood stills flows in a way that would keep him rotting THAT much. Maybe tone down the missing flesh and rot a bit, but not completely remove it.

So I assume he doesn't have a bunch maggots crawling around or anything, and he has regenerative properties, or at least when he's being fed regularly (he was starved at the point where the werewolf in his history ripped his face apart).  He already tastes and smells, but he seems to ignore his senses that don't involve the hunt for a worthy meal, and he has a bunch of rot on his teeth and fangs (oh boy...).  Just being in the holy aura this city was giving off, his skin began to sting and itch uncontrollably, so if the Aether was applied directly...

Ouch.

This will be a fun post!  I'm excited.  Want me to post next due to direct interaction, or are we doing the usual rotation?

I had to do just a -little- bit of controlling your characters for this post, but only in so much as I assumed they wouldn't fight back against the raging tamer spitting fire and lightning as he picked them up off the ground. Man it was hard to type anger for the guy who'd been so understanding in the past. I hope you guys like what I did though.

I didn't like it.  I f***ing loved it.

And yeah, don't worry about ghosting The Gorger a bit.  I prefer it in order to speed things up from time to time.

EDIT: Thought I should clarify though that while The Gorger was under the vampire's control for quite some time, the time frame between Sir Alexander capturing him and giving him to the crusade took a matter of weeks.  If it works better for the story though to have it be a matter of years, I have no issues with that. :)
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Radobe on May 25, 2013, 06:47:07 AM
“You either intentionally attempted to harm your own ally,…”

I wanted to clarify, that since it was a healing spell no “harm” was intended, sure some crippling pain was mixed in it, but harm? Noooooooooo! Rau did behaved like a kid, but I think Sir Walter should have been able to see, that the priest didn’t use a spell that would cause permanent or long lasting damage. I was honestly expecting the lecture to be on behavior, rather than on intent. Since I thought the intent was clearly shown: power up --> exciting new addition to his energy -->  teaching the ghoul a lesson and casting his first spell with aether!

One other thing, I thought that The Gorger doesn’t have his memories, so won’t telling him that he was a crusader once be quite significant?

As for the rest, it was quite fun to see Sir Walter huffing and puffing!  ;D
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on May 25, 2013, 09:54:36 AM
The point is still there that you inflicted 'harm' to the Gorger intentionally, whether it left a lasting wound or not.

The Gorger has fragments of his memory, so that probably wouldn't be anything new, especially since he could've looked at his old armor and seen bits of Imperial imagery.
Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Archdemon Stu on May 25, 2013, 11:47:03 AM
Yeah he's aware he was a warrior in the crusades at one point.

Also: seems like an incredibly harsh lesson (on Rau's part) when The Gorger was actually on relatively good behavior, haha!  Either way, I feel like Sir Walter was pretty justified on lecturing both of them pretty harshly.  Rau caused The Gorger unfathomable pain and discomfort, The Gorger - in a fit of ghoulish rage brought on by pain - tried to murder Rau.  I'm just glad we took it that far so we could see such an explosion of Sir Waltery rage!  *EPIC ROLEPLAY HIGH FIVES ALL AROUND*

Looking forward to the reaction post.  Sir Walter finally said some things that The Gorger would respond positively to.

Title: Re: Shadowhaunt: The Black Crusade OOC thread I
Post by: Shadow Chorus on June 01, 2013, 08:09:08 AM
He is aware of it, but he does not draw on it. He draws on a completely separate source of energy from priests or dragon priests. It's a power fueled by raw emotion and willpower, similar to it, but it is a more aggressive variation that does not require faith or a connection to the outside world. He is basically a living generator of power which he can draw upon using Techniques he has learned from all three nations.

This is why experienced tamers are powerful; they have abilities and skills that they have learned from all three of the different cultures of the human race.

Alucard aside, I can’t get even a vague idea who the other guy is. My initial response to the robe and one weird eye was to think of thief, but no mask or unholy powers. Than I thought something more recent would be a better match, so I started thinking dishonored and again it is not a perfect fit, since the mask has 2 eyes and there is no yellow glow that I can think of. I checked out a few more universes that this kind of character might be a part of but to no avail. So yeah I got nothing on him.

In my last post I “missed”, since it was an attempt of my character to do a spell he had not done before I used a dice to determine the success rate:

1 critical miss, 2 and 3 miss, 4 and 5 success and lastly 6 critical success.

Needless to say I rolled 2.
