Title: ANNOUNCING....
Post by: Soul Reaver on August 24, 2011, 03:15:58 AM
It's been over 6 years, but now...

To the Bitter End (http://www.familykrieg.com/tothebitterend/download.htm)
is complete at last!

It was originally always meant to be enjoyed by us here at The Administorum, and this is the first place I'm making the release public.  So go dig out your Warcraft III CDs - I hope you have fun with it!

Very VERY cool. Congrats, man! My WC3 disk is missing, so I'll either borrow Fei's or find some other way to obtain the game. Can't wait to play through this!

(Also, nice picture.)

That is awesome!

I indeed shall dig out my old Warcraft III cd's and check it out.

Once again, your dedication to this project is incredible, Soul Reaver.

That art is AWESOME!

I agree.  It's not my work though, it was made and donated to me by a concept artist called Stephen Cousins.  An awesome guy, and (it goes without saying) a highly talented artist.  I'm hoping TTBE will give him some exposure and maybe land him some commissions.

Oh gods!! It's here!!! It's really here!!!!

Now 2012 can come without me having regrets!

I'm curious: What's the setting for the art piece? If there is one?

Though I guess isn't not really 100% accurate, the closest thing to the setting is Dhar (the Dharuk homeworld) from Chapter VI.  After all, that's where all the companions are together, and fighting the Dharuk armies side by side.

Incidentally, I've got a youtube video of the Prologue up.  But if you're going to play it anyway, there's no real reason to watch a low-res youtube version of the intro - you'll be able to get a high-res one in-game yourself. :P

But for anyone that's interested, here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUHePZCExwY

It was because of TTBE that i found this place. I've played it since about chapter six came out. Truly one of the few wc3 campaigns where the pace doesnt drop and the maps are actually challenging to a frustrating degree at some points. Chapter seven was the best so far though the fight maelstorm vs soul reaver was way too easy or maybe i got too lucky with crits. I still need to sit down and play the last one or just replay them from the get got.

Yeah, TTBE brought me here after I exercised by Tenacity to get into contact with Soul Reaver and join up with the Administorum.

So, anyone here on the boards played it yet?  I'm hoping it's been worth the long wait...

I unfortunately had to wipe my computer a few days ago  >:( gonna take me a while to get everything reinstalled, and then I'm gonna play that stuff through to the end. Sera's level was the furthest I got before I had to wipe.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it.  Did you pull all the way through without changing the difficulty/using cheats, or did you finally succumb to the lure of the dark side?

Aw, that sucks.  I hope you backed up your saved games, it would be annoying to have to play through everything again from the beginning.

Let me know what you think once you've finished it!

well i did like the first two levels w/o any cheats (i do think i dropped it down to easy though) but then i turned on the cheats, mainly also cause i already did all the levels up to the final one and i just wanted to see how it all ends (plus it was quite late at night hehe).

...and things just got cooler: http://www.hiveworkshop.com/forums/maps-564/bitter-end-202289/

Looks like To the Bitter End has been accepted as a "Director's Cut" map on Hive Workshop.  To put this into perspective: there are over 4000 maps on Hive Workshop.  There are only 12 that have been accepted as Director's Cut maps (and one of those is mine).

I'm really thrilled about this. :)

I really need to get my hands on a cracked version of WC3 so that I can finally play this.

Congrats, man. You earned it.

You earned every bit of it.  That entire series was a blast to play!  Oh yeah, I think I can re-download WC3 from Battle.net... Ima try that.

worth noting that if you ask one of us who has it on b.net you can use their download client. You just can't both be on the same battle.net server at the same time

(IE you can be on east and him on west, but not both on east.)

Congratulation!

It is a well deserved achievement. You have showen excelent understanding of the tools provided from war3 world editor and  have used an interesting and involving storry line from the administrium to make it. To top it off you went in over your head and managed to create your own flow, in the gameplay. The way things are balanced so that you can say they are possible but you can easly fail if you make a single mistake is great and shows the effort and dedication  you’ve put in it. Any way I am happy you got some reckognition for your effort.
Congratulations again!
