Diablo 3
« on: May 18, 2012, 05:36:29 AM »
Okay, so quick review of Diablo 3.  Keep in mind, I'm not huge on the genre, and I did not like Diablo or Diablo II all that much.

This game has utterly destroyed everything I ever thought I knew about this genre and find myself absolutely absorbed into it.  My buddies and I started hardcore character and just reached Chapter IV.  I have yet to die in the game, and not one of us has read up on the boss fights so far, so to say the least... it's intense.  I haven't had this much fun in a video game in a long time.

EDIT: Oh, and I play a monk.

I can't stop playing. I woke up at 5am the 15th and played for three hours before work. Then came straight home and played all night. The combat is really fluid and all the annoying things from D2 are gone!

I'm playing a witch doctor and really love the class so far. I have to admit I died once already during an event. I was stuck on some cool downs and got spanked pretty hard.

I like how easy it is to pop in and out of friends games. The online all the time feature hasn't bothered me once.

I've read so many nerd rage reviews about Diablo 3 not being exactly like Diablo 2, and then reviews saying it's too much like Diablo 2.  I hate people.  I really do. -_-

But yeah, this game will consume my soul, and I wasn't even into the previous installments all that much.  Wish me luck on Act IV hardcore.  I have a feeling my crew might not last much longer. :P

RIP LingPing the monk, lvl39, Act II.  Death by two groups of special enemies, illusionist/arcane and frozen/molten.

Welp, at least now I'll get some work done. :P

My monk's at 34 or so, and I'm trying to get the rest of my classes up there. Next up is my Witch Doctor. Little bastard reminds me so much of my treasured Necromancer. Makes me happy when my enemies are devoured by spiders and undead dogs.

then have the rest of the classes around lvl 9.

Just turn the demon dogs to skeletons and the Witch Doctor is a better Necromancer than the Necromancer :P  At least my setup is right now.

My Monk is stuck at lvl 10 while the WD just keeps trucking.  I've been playing solo for the past 15 levels.  He's around lvl 30 now.  Probably going to go with Demon Hunter next.

please, the Witch Doctor can't hold a candle to the Necromancer's army of the dead. Four demon dogs and a giant zombie? K. I've got twenty skeletons, half warriors, half mages, and a giant blood golem.

All of which died in one shot to just about anything with a differently colored name.  The rage zombie of the witch doctor however... mmmmm... <3

EDIT: Oh yeah and spiders.  Ridiculous amounts of spiders.

Actually as I recall, my army was strong enough to take on diablo without any of my assistance, and I still had my golem and a handful of skellies at the end.

But yes, I do enjoy spiders.

Rage zombie makes me so happy when he gets all ragey.  And the zombie noises when standing around in town make me chuckle.

"Ruuah, uahhh,  uh..."

I was more referring to the curses and poison skills.  I miss the skelly army but the direct attack skills are gravy.  I love acid spill for its point and click mini nuke.  And haunt is like a single target curse.

No spoilers, but I just got to act 4 and am all O_O

I haven't beaten the game until I kill Diablo on hardcore inferno mode!  Already leveling up my NEW monk (PingTingDing, son of LingPing), and now that I know you don't have to stay within the hotkey restrictions i.e. you can use however many skills from each key you wish if you just check a box in Gameplay options... yeah.  Shouldn't die so easily this time.

But yeah, love the cinematics in this.  Also, Act III and Act IV are hella intense.
