Name: Sepher
Board Battle: Epic
Race: Chaos Touched Human
Origin: Planet Sezekan in the Severel Universe
Appearance:
Sepher stands 5’10” and has a more wiry build then anything. His shaggy brown hair is starting to fade slighlty, marking him an older man among what was his people, somewhere around age 350-360.
Sepher’s face is angular and hard as would befit one who had gone through much in his life. His piercing blue eyes are a testament to his resolve however, and also hold much strength. If one were to look closely they might see a raging battle behind them though, a constant and tiring hardship.
As his signature, he wears a long heavy black trench coat that covers him from neck to ankles. His heavy boots are black leather shot in a dull silver metal that is tinged slightly with crimson.
Under his coat he typically wears a set of armor made of the same dull silver, crimson tinted metal. It is made up of thick metal scales sewn into material that looks like it would be extremely heavy but appears to be carried fairly easily.
At his belt is a sword scabbard containing a katana made out of the same material as his other equipment. He has a satchel on the other side of his belt. Sepher has a pair of bracers that cover his fore arms completely and the inside of his trench is littered with random pockets in which he keeps various important items.
Personality:
After what Sepher has been through, he tends to keep people at an arms length rather then allowing them to get close. If the need is great enough, he has no qualms about taking allies, but prefers to keep everything on a purely professional basis.
While this may sound cold, he has his reasons, and it’s more for the others sake then his own. The nature of his powers tend to leave him very chaotic in nature, and potentially very dangerous, not only to him but to everyone around him.
He has had a great deal of experience with losing people to his own inadequacies in being able to control his power, so it would take an equally powerful personality to make him open up enough to become friends.
Overall though, he is a very loyal person, willing to fight for causes he sees as just, and is fairly dependable so long as he can keep a check on his powers.
Abilities:
Daemon Absorption:
This is Sepher’s main ability, and the reason he is hunted by daemons everywhere. Sepher has fought daemons for a couple hundred years and utilized this ability which had slowly killed out his people. After he has killed, or has a dying, stunned, or otherwise incapacitated daemon near him, Sepher can absorb the daemon into himself. This is very dangerous and risky, as while sealing a daemon into an item gives some protection, sealing a daemon inside oneself basically allows the daemon direct access to ones body. They only thing that will keep it at bay is sheer willpower. Regardless, Sepher has absorbed countless smaller daemons, several daemon lords, and a daemon god. (All in his plane of existence, daemons are not from inferno, but rather from a sun of pure chaos). Other daemons fear and respect this power, and with to kill him to rid themselves of the threat.
Daemon Transformation
This comes along with Daemonic Absorption in a way. Any daemon Sepher has absorbed can be the target of this ability. Sometimes painful, sometimes fear inspiring, Sepher can transform into any daemon he has absorbed. This is a very dangerous to him and is a constant contest of will because doing this is essentially letting the daemon have his body while he controls the mind. Should he ever lose and anyone else fails to bring him back, the daemon will rampage out of control, with all of Sepher’s Abilities at its disposal. Fortunately, Sepher has only ever lost control once and has spent the past 100-200 years strengthening his mind to prevent it from happening again.
Daemonic Concentration Transformation
This is similar in ways to the basic Daemonic Transformation, but different in many other ways. Instead of allowing a daemon to take over his body, he forces the daemonic soul into a part of his body, generally a limb. There, and only there, Sepher allows the daemon to be free, so instead of his entire body being a daemon, only a limb or something similar will be effected. The end result of this is something of much more concentrated power. While there is oftentimes less control of the limb, it is much more powerful and concentrated then a general daemonic transformation. It has a less chance of allowing the daemon to run away with his entire body as well. Depending on how he uses it, his strength, speed or another aspect can be greatly boosted.
Shape Metal
One of the big things Sepher’s people were known for was their ability to shape pretty much any metal. This stems mostly from the burning chaos sun from which they drew their power. Coursing this natural elemental chaos through the metal, the metal can be shaped to nearly any desire. The katana that Sepher carries is often shaped into different weapons as the situation arises and armor can be repaired with little difficulty. Such a simple power has come in useful many times and is bound to again and again.
Control Daemon
Coming from a universe were demons were more commonplace then most, their societies quickly learned to take control of the situation. Sepher had been one of those that have been a natural when it came to exerting his influence over a daemons mind to control it. When their civilization had been in its prime, this was often the primary means of accomplishing manual labor, and was used to force the daemons and their strength to do what was needed. Now, it is used by Sepher for different purposes.
Summon Daemon
Only a select few could learn the correct actions necessary to summon a daemon. Sepher happened to be one of them. Daemon summoners had been closely watched and their actions recorded fairly regularly to make sure that nothing went wrong. Needless to say, this is a very useful ability that allows the user to summon a daemon to bend to their will so that can accomplish what is needed.
Raw Chaos Control
This was a very rare ability among Sepher’s people. Their sun was a swirling ball of pure elemental chaos from which daemons came from and only a very skilled person with exceptional control of mind could pull from the giant sun’s energy. The universe that he had come from has virtually been swallowed by this giant ball of pure chaotic energy, and it is from that that Sepher draws his powers. He can warp elements to his cause, and bend them to his will. Due to the nature of his powers, he has no set spells, needing to come up with them as he goes. They will be mostly elemental in nature so if something has a resistance to a particular element, he will have to switch it up, though he can use some pure chaos as well.
Equipment:
Crimson wind (Wind for short) – Silver Crimson Katana
This is a weapon made out of a once common material where Sepher came from. Since his home universe is no longer any sort of safe, stable or sane place to be, the materials is all but gone. It is a dull, non reflective silver metal with a crimson tint to it.
The sword itself is a basic katana with little adornment. It was made by Sepher himself with his ability to shape metal, and has a keen edge that never needs sharpened (at least by hand, it can be made sharp with magic controlled by Sepher)
It has a simple black cloth wrapped handle and was extremely light, lending to quick strikes. In an instant, however, it can be changed into almost any weapon Sepher desires, from a small dagger, to a large 2 handed sword, to a pole arm.
Excoriating Thunder (Thunder for short) – Silver Crimson Truncheon
This is an extendable truncheon that is often seen used by riot police to put down riots back in the human colonies. There are two major differences between the two however. Sepher’s is made of Silver crimson, packing a heavy punch and has lightning coursing through it, on every strike it sent thousands upon thousands of volts of electricity into the target .
This power can be activated upon demand and the baton itself is retractable, the fully retracted size being about 6 inches. Its max extendable length was about 2.5 feet. This is often used in conjunction with Shade.
Scale Mail – Silver crimson scale mail.
Sepher has a full suit of scale mail (small, inch diameter hexagonal squares of silver crimson sewn into heavily bulletproof material) This is very flexible, durable and strong, allowing Sepher to take bullets and blows from weapons that would normally shred your typical armor.
This was hand crafted by Sepher, and he has had to repair it several times using his metal shaping skills. Fighting Demon Lords is dangerous work.
Throwing Blades – Silver Crimson throwing blades
These are typical throwing blades, made of Silver crimson. There are 5 in each of Sepher’s bracers, and each were razor sharp. While they are not much on their own, they are often used in conjunction with Sepher’s magical skills to devastating effect.
Background:
The past 350-360 years have been long ones for Sepher, full of conflict and strife, a constant battle. It all started on the only inhabitable planet in the system in which Sepher lived in, Sezekan. The Several universe was a very hostile and nasty place, its sun being composed of pure chaos energy. It is from this sun that the daemons of the plane come from. It is from this sun that life is allowed to exist, yet life is also taken.
From an early age Sepher was marked as a prodigy. He unknowingly controlled chaos energy on several occasions as a young child, as was finally forced to be accepted into the academy that taught control of such things at a very early age. Sepher was top of his class at the academy, earning his license to use the chaos energy as he wishes, and to summon and control daemons. These things had to be very closely regulated in the Severel universe, as one mishap could destroy thousands of lives.
Sepher quickly became a paragon of what was expected of the chaos mages of their world. He was strong willed, able to control daemons with little trouble, and had an excelling ability to control chaos. He was finally awarded the highest honor for his duties. There was a squad of chaos mages, maybe numbering 20 total, which specialized in absorbing trouble daemons that escaped their sun. Sepher was placed in charge of them, and the world of Sezekan experienced an unprecedented era of peace.
For nearly 50 years everything was going well. While it was obvious that the job took its toll on an individual, Sepher withstood it better then anyone before him. He cared for those under his command, allowing himself to do the bulk of the work to give them reprieve.
At this point in his life, Sepher desired something more. He took a wife and soon had a child. His led a happy life in which he had a steady job that paid very well, and could take care of his family. All was well for several years until the war started.
One reason things had been so peaceful for so long (Besides the fact that Sepher was doing an amazing job keeping the daemons out of their world) was that the daemons had been building their forces, a new daemon god coming to light. This daemon god, named Adara, God of the Red Sun, had been building his power until all was ready.
Adara launched an assault just several days after Sepher’s Daughter’s acceptance into the Academy. This was one of the proudest moments of Sepher’s life, but even as she received the letter, Adara was moving across the stars with his daemons of chaos. His great powers had been able to mask the assault force that hit their home world. Sezekan was taken by surprise.
In the space of a day the world’s entire views were shattered. Sepher and his troops marched forth to meet the daemon god, only to be thrown back. This thing was more powerful then anything Sepher had ever faced before and the face that he did not seem to be able to do anything about it disheartened his people.
In a last ditch effort, Sepher launched one final assault on the army of daemons. His troops fought valiantly as Sepher Met Adara for a final battle. Chaos clashed with chaos in a world shattering conflict, and in a moment of hesitation on Adara’s part, Sepher found his opening.
Spearing the Giant chaos god upon his spear, Sepher absorbed the daemon into himself. The last thing Sepher remembered from that was seeing a grin on the Chaos god’s face.
Anguish, sorrow, destruction, and hate. These were the things Sepher felt as he awoke. As his sense came to, he floated in the atmosphere of his home world Sezekan. Looking down upon the scene below, he cried out at what he saw. Everything, everyone, it was all destroyed. Nothing was left untouched. He held out his hand and let a cry out as he saw that it was not his own. He did not remember taking another daemon’s form…. But wait! This form he had, it was Adara’s! Sepher left loose a roar that shook the space around him as the daemon god in him awoke once more.
The immensity of the power he had at his fingertips was incredible. Burst of chaotic energy exploded out from his hands as he rampaged further through Sezekan. Sepher watched himself do this as if he were a soul inside the daemon, unable to do anything. Finally, tiring of the game, he flew up high, and launched a ball of chaos that pierced into the heart of the planet and tore through it with no remorse.
Sezekan was no more.
The Giant sun of Severel expanded, increasing the daemon’s domain. All of Sepher’s people were now dead so there was nothing to stop it. For years, Sepher resided in Adara’s body, unable to regain control. He had years though, to slowly build up his power. Slowly but surely he was winning back control. One day, in a moment of weakness for Adara, Sepher wrested control once more. The daemon fought with all its might, but Sepher had planned this too long to allow it to be thwarted.
Taking his human form once more, Sepher threw open a chaos portal. Having no idea where he was going, he stepped through.
Since then, many things have happened, many years, many experiences, too numerous to recount. Sepher managed to retain control, but only just, having a constant battle to keep his mind. The battle continued, and so does the story, but for how long, no one knows.
