After a brief period of finding a suitable place to create a camp, The group gathered at their designated location and began to set down camp supplies. As Wrynjolf and Shani set up a camp fire and tents, Theldorian and Khadmas stood in the center of the campsite and inspected the area around them.
"Aye, this looks good. Theldorian, if ye don't mind starting out for me?"
"Certainly Khadmas. Let us begin." Taking a moment to center himself, the Elven monk took a deep breath, elbows bent and arms brought close to his side, his fists clenched. After a moment of focus, he brought his hands up to his chest, open palms spaced inches from each other, and with an exhale, thrust his hands toward the ground. A burst of invisible energy rushed toward the ground and dispersed outward, scattering leaves and dust, and, at the end of its radius, digging a small circle into the earth around the camp, creating a perimeter roughly fifty feet in diameter.
"Right. Now my turn." The dwarf slammed his fist into his open palm and, taking a similarly deep breath, exhaled a cloud of shimmering dust. While the mystic cloud hung in the air, the enchanter stamped his foot onto the ground, and the flecks of dust magnetized, swarming out and filling the radius Theldorian's strike had dug into the earth. As a ring of shining silver dust encompassed the camp, it flared for a moment and a semi-transparent bubble appeared in the air around the group.
"There. Now there shouldnae be any problems. Valorkoth'll surely sense this barrier, but no others should be able ta find us." The dwarf strode over to the campfire and sat down, stroking his beard idly as the Elf sat down next to him.
"We make a good team, don't we Pointy-ears?"
"Indeed my friend. Let us now simply hope your snoring does not draw the attention of the enemy."
The two shared a laugh at this. Khadmas's laugh was raucous and bellowing, while Theldorian's was more light and refined, but the two shared a genuine moment of mirth in this dark time, and such was perhaps its own gift.
