Apologies, it's been crazy at both work and home so this post sat half-finished for a while.
Soul Reaver is being attacked on so many fronts that the post is dedicated mainly to him just trying to survive and create an opening for himself.
The antimagic burst he cast is pretty crude and similar to what the antimagic amulet can release. The downside is that it's snuffed out his own Fire Shield spell, but on the upside it should also blow away that lightning that's zapping him, even if only for as long as it's still expanding.
Assuming that works, Soul Reaver will take the chance to cast a (boosted) Protection from Magic spell. This is a particularly draining ability to cast but willl erect a white sphere around him that resists magical attacks. Being boosted means he's combined it with the Dark Sorcerer's 'Boost' spell, meaning it will be more taxing than usual to cast, but increases its power (and lets him cast it faster)
The Protection from Magic spell doesn't mean spells can't get through if the sorcerer is powerful enough, but even then it will likely lessen the impact of the hostile spell and, more importantly, buy him some extra time before it gets through.
