What becomes of the victors?

[Soul Reaver]

So, The Three-Edged Sword has drawn to a close.  I've opened "A Blade Resheathed" as our wind-down thread and as a place to post in-character, but while that is ongoing, I'd like to open this discussion on The Three-Edged Sword and what should come next.

First, my personal confession is that I was pretty consumed with work, life and another project during the "The Three-Edged Sword".  I feel I could have been more proactive in moving it forward, especially toward its closing stages.  On the other hand, I'm satisfied that we got through it without any disasters, and everyone stuck with it all the way through, which is great.

As for what should happen next:
- If you'd be keen to be a battle host and have an idea, please chime in and float your idea here!
- Personally I've had an idea in my head for years now for another plot, but if I were to host next I probably would instead try to conclude Jihon's unfinished "Salt in the Wound" storyline. I'm not 100% sure if I'm genuinely 'enthusiastic' about it though - it feels more like something that I should do.  It would be a big challenge: I'm not the original battle host, very little of his intended plan for it remains available, and I myself would have to refresh my memory on it... not to mention the difficulty of trying to continue it in an appropriate style that at least somewhat recalls Jihon's own.

But this is all reliant on people wanting to keep going, of course.  So let me know if you're keen to continue, and what you want to see next.

Another thought I can't shake is that if we're keen to continue, we likely will need to consider recruiting new members.  I feel that our current active user count is only barely enough to sustain the Epic board battles.  I don't have any brilliant ideas of how to do this, but could give an active recruitment drive a try.

Well, I am certainly not going to throw my hat in the ring to be a Battle Host, since I doubt any of us would live long enough for me to finish another one of my Epics. :p

However, if it's another player you want, I have been mulling over some ways to bring Cameron back into the fray.

[Kitharsis]

It would be good to have you back Cameron!

I will also not be throwing my hat into the ring for battle host.  I don't even have the thought of an idea for a battle right now.

Well technically could basically do a story following Vee returning to her home and working to restore it, facing off against twisted beings along the way sort of thing but of course a) as i just hosted this one id say its kind of a "last resort" sort of thing and b) its like at a real "rough draft" sort of stage, largely just a concept.

[Fallen Templar]

As the newest player here, I can't quite see myself volunteering to host a story arc, I'm sorry to say.

A recruitment drive can't hurt to try, I suppose. Anywhere in mind you could ask around?

Thought I'd update everyone on what's going on:
I'm currently overseas after a bunch of really intense stuff all happening at once (big round of redundancies at work; house hunting; finishing my book).
At this stage I'm thinking we should recruit some more members and try for Salt in the Wound Part 2, as nobody else seems to be burning to host.
However, I can't really get started on even planning this until I'm back in about 3 weeks time.
I'd appreciate any help in drumming up potential new recruits in the meantime!

[Soul Reaver]

Ok, I got back from overseas just a few days ago, and only just got a post in now.

To be fair, I have a really good excuse why it took me a while to post.

Anyway, I wanted to give an update:
- I've read through the old Salt in the Wound Part I thread, which is a spaghetti of complexity and unresolved characters and plot threads.  I've taken notes.
- I've yet to come up with an idea of how exactly to run Salt in the Wound Part II, though I've got some ideas forming from reading through Part I.
- Cameron may have some old material from Jihon that could help, but I'm not sure if he's managed to find it
- Cameron may be joining us for this battle
- We still need to drum up some members.

Could everyone please advise on if they have any recruitment ideas?  Are there any groups you're part of?  Do you have some old friends that might want to rejoin, or made new ones that might be keen?  Anyone owe you any favours in return for saving their life from a terrible mummy's curse?
If all of you could chime in, that would be appreciated.

Note that I think all new accounts need to be manually approved by me, so don't just ask someone to join - be sure that I get a heads up.  My email, as always, is meet_soul_reaver@hotmail.com.

Fantastic!  I ordered a copy of your book.  Congrats!

I've put the word out to my nerd groups.  I haven't had any takers.  Some interested folks but no one signed up yet.

I may need to break out Kelvack if we revisit Salt in the Wound!
